Where Serena Williams now though? Read on to find out.

Early Life

Richard Williams and Oracene Price welcomed Serena into the world on September 26, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan. She is the youngest of Price’s five daughters, which also include Venus, her full older sister, and half-sisters Yetunde, Lyndrea, and Isha Price. She also has at least seven paternal half-siblings.

The family relocated to Compton, California while the kids were little, and she began playing tennis at the age of four. Her father sent her and her sister, Venus, to home school. Her other mentors have included Richard Williams, a Compton resident who shared her father’s name and later established The Venus and Serena Williams Tennis Tutorial Academy, even though he and her mother have served as their official trainers.

At the age of nine, Serena and her family relocated from Compton to West Palm Beach, Florida  so that Williams could enroll in Rick Macci’s tennis academy, where she received extra coaching.

When Serena turned 10, Richard decided to stop taking his girls to national junior tennis events in order to “go slowly” and give them more time for schoolwork, as well as to make sure they wouldn’t burn out before going pro.

Williams led all Florida under-10 players in rankings and had a 46–3 record on the United States Tennis Association junior circuit by 1991. Williams’ father withdrew his kids out of Macci’s academy in 1995 when she was in the ninth grade and took over all home coaching responsibilities.
