Former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has sparked controversy on Super Bowl Sunday with a social media rant targeting Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
The former president labeled the Kansas City Chiefs star as a “liberal” and Swift as “disloyal,” claiming credit for her success and suggesting her relationship with Kelce could impact his re-election prospects.
Swift endorsed Joe Biden in 2020.
She has garnered viral attention following her relationship with Kelce.
This has stirred conspiracy theories and concerns among some MAGA supporters.
“I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists,” Trump said on Truth Social.
“Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will. There’s no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money.”
The conspiracy theories
Despite the numerous speculation, Swift has not disclosed her political endorsements for the upcoming election.
The discourse surrounding Swift’s influence and political affiliations has divided opinion among Republicans.
However, many mainstream figures have dismissed the conspiracy theories.
Trump’s remarks added fuel to the already heightened anticipation for the Super Bowl showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.
Some far-right Trump supporters have been spinning Swift’s popularity into a perceived threat, circulating conspiracy theories linking her, the Super Bowl, and the 2024 election.
During the Chiefs’ conference championship game, Mike Crispi, a pro-Trump podcast host, alleged that the NFL had “rigged” a Chiefs victory.
“All to spread DEMOCRAT PROPAGANDA,” Crispi wrote on X.
“Calling it now: KC wins, goes to Super Bowl, Swift comes out at the halftime show and ‘endorses’ Joe Biden with Kelce at midfield. It’s all been an op since day one.”
