Notti Osama whose full name is Ethan Reyes, was a drill rapper who was stabbed to death following an altercation with a rival. The incident happened on July 9, 2022. Who was Notti Osama and what happened to him?
Notti was the younger brother of rapper DD Osama. He was born in Harlem, New York City, and grew there together with DD and four other siblings. He was also a teenage rapper just as his brother. Notti was just 14 when he was killed by a 15 year-old rival, Kelvin Martinez.
On the day of the stabbing, the young rapper and two friends were walking in his old neighborhood in Hamilton Heights, Harlem, when they spotted Martinez. According to eyewitnesses, Notti grabbed a broom handle and they followed Martinez into the subway station. At the subway, an altercation ensued. Martinez was then cornered at the end of the platform. However, after the rapper hit him with his broom stick while still cornered, Martinez removed a knife and stabbed Notti in the stomach. He was rushed to the Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital for treatment but could not survive.
What pained Notti’s family the most was that they just relocated to the area months before the unfortunate incident.

Notti’s funeral was held days after his death. It took place in his neighborhood. After a few hours, he was taken to a local cemetery and buried in the presence of his family and loved ones.

What happened after Notti’s death?
Aftermath of the incident, Kelvin Martinez was arrested by the police. Initially, the police said they were charging Martinez with second-degree murder but prosecutors only filed a charge of first-degree manslaughter.
However, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office dropped the charges against the teenager. This was after the court became convinced that Martinez acted in self defence. The court cited witness interviews and analysis of video footages of the incident as basis for its decision to drop the charges.
