Securing a fresh podcast deal

Shortly after Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, terminated their podcasting collaboration with Spotify, Meghan has found a new podcasting partner.

Meghan is set to launch a new podcast with Lemonade Media, a press release announced on Tuesday. Lemonadawill also feature “Archetypes,” Meghan’s 2022 podcast on Spotify.

Lemonada provided no further details about the new podcast except that Markle will host it.

In this new venture, Lemonada will start streaming “Archetypes” this spring and manage ad sales and distribution. “Archetypes” featured discussions between Meghan and prominent women like Mariah Carey, Mindy Kaling, and Issa Rae.

The financial specifics of the deal were not disclosed. Archewell Productions, Harry and Meghan’s company did not respond to CNN’s request for comment on the deal terms.

“I’m excited to announce that I’m joining Lemonada’s incredible team to continue my passion for podcasting,” Meghan stated. “Supporting a female-founded company with a lineup of thought-provoking and entertaining podcasts is a fantastic way to start 2024. Our plan to re-release ‘Archetypes’ and launch an exciting new podcast is well underway. I’m eager to share it soon and thrilled to be part of the Lemonada family.”

“Meghan’s skills as a host, creator, and conversationalist are unmatched, and we are excited to collaborate on a new series that reflects her commitment to creating meaningful content,” said Lemonada CEO and co-founder, Jessica Cordova Kramer.

Stephanie Wittels Wachs, the company’s chief creative officer and co-founder, remarked, “We’ve been incredibly impressed by The Duchess of Sussex’s collaborative approach and clear vision, as well as her profound commitment to fostering empathy and community through this endeavor.”

Lemonada Media hosts Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ podcast, “Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus,” “Choice Words with Samantha Bee,” and others.

After relinquishing their roles as senior members of the royal family and relocating to the United States in 2020, Harry and Meghan secured various media partnerships, including deals with Spotify and Netflix. Their docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” which explored their courtship, relationship with the media, and decision to step away from royal duties, premiered on Netflix.

Their multi-year collaboration with Spotify concluded in June 2023. In a statement to CNN at the time, both Archewell and Spotify expressed pride in the content they had produced together and announced their amicable parting of ways.
