Megan Thee Stallion vs Nicki Minaj: How their beef started (Full Gist)

While fans and lovers of Megan Thee Stallion, erupted in celebration as the rapper released her latest song, the story was different for fans of Nicki Minaj as they immediately took up the roles of critics.

Meg’s latest single, “Hiss,” dropped like a bomb on Friday.
In Hiss, the rapper took a shot at Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty.

The track reignited a long-simmering beef between the two rappers.

Trust Nicki, the queen of rap, as fondly called by her fans, it didn’t take long for her to release her own diss track in response.

You see, the is not the first time the two have clashed. In March of last year, Minaj released “Red Ruby Da Sleeze”, in which she rapped, “I don’t fuck with horses since Christopher Reeves.”

It is not entirely clear where the beef started, but there are suspicions that it began when Megan teamed up with Cardi B for “WAP.”

Megan’s law

However, on Friday, things escalated. “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law,” the Houston rapper said on “Hiss,” apparently referencing the federal law that requires information about registered sex offenders be made available to the public.

Listeners quickly clocked the line as a diss directed at Minaj and Petty.

Walking through memory lane, you’d recall that the latter had pleaded guilty to the attempted rape of a 16-year-old in 1994 (he was also 16 at the time).

In 2020, he was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in California.

Things went back to normal, all of a sudden, a year later, Petty’s victim, Jennifer Hough, sued both him and Minaj.

She sued them for harassment, claiming that the couple tried multiple times to get her to recant her accusation. (Minaj was eventually dropped from the suit.)

Megan did not mention Minaj or Petty in her song, but Nicki seem very sure she was talking about them.

Big foot

Nicki wasted no time, she hopped on Instagram Live and teased a verse of a song called “Big Foot,” which was clearly a Meg diss.

“Bad bitch she like six foot, I call her Bigfoot,” Minaj says on the track. “The bitch fell off, I said get up on your good foot” — seemingly referring to the fact that Megan was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez in 2020.

Permit us to delve a little into Lanez’s trial in 2022. He was found guilty.

According to Meg while speaking on the harassment she had received about coming forward, “I don’t feel like I want to be on this earth. I wish he would have just shot and killed me if I knew I would have to go through this torture.” To add insult to injury, Minaj also shared a photo of her feet on X.

On Friday morning, Megan called into The Breakfast Club to talk about “Hiss.”
The host, Charlamagne tha God hadn’t heard the record yet and asked if she was saying any names on the track.

“I’m saying a hit dog gon’ holler,” she replied. For good measure, Meg also shared a photo of herself laughing to her Instagram Story, in case you couldn’t figure out how she feels about this whole situation.

Nicki hits hard

Nicki spent the weekend firing tweets at Megan. She accused her of using a ghostwriter and allowing her best friend to be bullied.

“Big Foot” arrived in full on Sunday midnight, along with an a cappella version that Nicki said “other producers all around the world can make their own beat” to.

In the lyrics, she riffed on Megan’s height, her late mother, her ex-boyfriend and collaborator Pardison Fontaine, and, of course, the 2020 shooting.

She rapped, “This little beggin’ whore talkin’ ’bout Megan’s Law, for a free beat, you can hit Megan raw / If you a ghostwriter, Pardi in Megan jaw / Shots thrown but I still ain’t let Megan score.”

“Why did you lie about your lipo?” she rapped in another line.
Here, she echoed a claim Fontaine made in 2023. “Fuckin’ your best friend’s man is crazy, you the type though.”
She repeatedly suggested Megan lied about her mother’s death, adding, “Hoe, the things that you’ve lied about, even pertaining to your dead mom, you don’t want them out, okay?” while threatening a “next installment.”

Nicki is not taking this beef likely, in fact, on Sunday, she hinted that she has five more diss tracks waiting in the wings.

She’s not the only one with more music coming. Meg also announced that a new album is imminent, and over the summer she’s going on tour.

“The Hot Girl Summer Tour is gonna be 2024 summertime,” she said.

She added that “This is gonna be the first time that I drop an album on time for the summer.”

As the drama continues to unfold, fans wait anxiously to see how things play out.
