Life of Bob Barker.

Bob Barker was born on December 12, 1923, in Darrington, Washington, as Robert William Barker. He was the son of a farmer, William Henry Barker, and Florence Irene (née Williams) Barker.

He started his career as a radio broadcaster in the 1940s. In the 1950s, he transitioned to television and hosted various game shows, including Truth or Consequences and The New Price Is Right.

However, Barker took over as host of The Price Is Right in 1972. He was the longest-running host of a game show in American television history, having hosted it for 35 years.

Barker became famous for his dry wit and slogans such as “Come on down!” He was also an outspoken supporter of animal rights, and he formed the Bob Barker Foundation to promote animal adoption and put an end to animal testing. Barker left The Price Is Right in 2007. He passed away in 2023 at the age of 99.

Additionally, Barker began hosting The Price is Right when Richard Nixon was in the White House. He remained with the show for 35 years before retiring in 2007. Even at the end of his career, the then-80-something host was still taping five shows a week.
