Senator Linda White cause of death: Here’s what to know

Linda White was an Australian politician who was serving as a Member of the Australian senate, representing Victoria, till her sudden demise on Thursday, February 29, 2024. She was a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). Linda White cause of death is currently unknown.

White’s death was announced by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who said: “On behalf of the Australian government and the Labor family, I offer my deepest condolences to Linda’s family and loved ones.”

He death occurred almost three months after the demise of another Labor senator, Peta Murphy, on December 4, 2023.

Early life and political career

The politician was born in 1969. She served her party in various capacities since 2006 before becoming the lead candidate to contest for a seat in the senate. She however, won the election and resumed her duties as a senator from Victoria on July 1, 2022.

Linda White was a lawyer and trade unionist before entering politics, including serving as the assistant national secretary of the Australian Services Union (ASU) from 1995 till 2020. She studied Law and Commerce at the University of Melbourne as two separate bachelor’s degree.

In 1993, White became a director of the Victorian Legal Industry Superannuation Scheme, which later merged into LegalSuper. She had also served as a director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Victoria and the Australian Center for the Moving Image.

In early February, the senator took leave from parliamentary duties to see to her health issues. Unfortunately, she passed away before she could return. She was 64.
