Jeff Cook: Career, net worth and cause of death

Born Jeffery Alan Cook, Jeff Cook is an American musician with a net worth of over $20 million.

Cook bagged his certificate in Sound Engineering when he was fourteen years old and worked as an MC at an original radio station.

His first band, Wildcountry, was formed in 1972. The group ultimately became known as Alabama.

The band released an inconceivable number of albums, in the 80s, and ranked # 341 with Cook as its lead guitarist.

He also played keyboard, sang and wrote songs.

Jeff Cook owned his recording studio, Cook Sound Studios, Inc., and also had his own eatery and cuisine sauce.

Early Life

Born on August 27, 1949, in the neighbourhood of Fort Payne, Alabama, Jeff is of Native American/ English descent. He has two siblings, David and Crystal Cook.

Jeff Cook’s father, James managed a bus corridor shop while his mama, Betty, worked as his partner.

Jeff’s love for music, particularly Country music was very evident even at his young age, he learned the piano and guitar at just the age of 13, and got a radio broadcasting license just a time latterly.

He attended Fort Payne’s High School and later proceeded to the Gadsden State Community College to study Electronics technology. Jeff also attended Jacksonville State University.

Career

Jeff Cook started his career quite early. In fact, it was after his high school with the Wildcountry group in 1972.
Heco founded the group with his relatives, Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry.

Jeff Cook and his relatives who had gone to study music full time came together to regroup and produced their first song, “ Wild Country ”, in 1976 under some small independent records.

They latter rebranded and became Alabama Group.

The group’s alternate song, Deuces Wild, was also released in 1977. This song made them relatively popular at the time.

However, the success of their musical career became known in the 1980s.

It was after they linked with RCA Records and produced songs like “My Home’s in Alabama ” in 1980, 40- Hour Week” in 1985, and  “Southern Star” in 1989.

The 1980 classic was their first Top 40 Country music hit song.

Their songs became famous and gained millions of streams, a significant milestone that made Jeff Cook a 2 time Grammy Award winner.

Death

It all began on April 11, 2017, with a shocking revelation that Jeff Cook had been managing Parkinson’s disease since 2013.

As at the time, the Alabama group resumed their music tour but unfortunately, Jeff couldn’t keep up again.
Jeff’s condition worsened and he died in his Florida home on November 7, 2022.

Jeff Cook left behind his wife, Lisa Wiliams, his daughter, mother, and two siblings.

Personal Life

Jeff Cook tied the knot with Lisa on June 9, 1995 and their union is blessed with a daughter.
