Who was Arthur Longbottom?
Longbottom was born on the 30th January, 1933 in Leeds, United Kingdom. He died on 17 September 2023, at the age of 90
Arthur Langley was an English footballer. In an 11-year career in the Football League’s bottom two divisions, he scored 118 goals in 360 league and cup matches. After retiring from football, he changed his surname from Longbottom to Langley.
Longbottom played for Queens Park Rangers from 1954 to 1961 before being moved to Port Vale for £2,000 in May 1961.
Moreover, in January 1963, he was sold to Millwall for another £2,000 before joining Oxford United in the summer. In October 1964, he joined Colchester United, and in May 1965, he joined Scarborough in the non-league. Despite never receiving an award or being promoted, he was the top scorer at QPR, Port Vale, and Oxford United.
