Reason behind Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez divorce filing

Ariana Grande and her estranged husband, Dalton Gomez, have simultaneously filed for divorce. According to TMZ, the filing took place on Monday, Sept. 18. The singer’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, was first to file, and after that, Gomez’s lawyer did his. Ariana Grande has cited “irreconcilable differences” as the main reason behind her decision to divorce Gomez.

The 30-year-old singer and Gomez, who is said to be a real estate agent, started dating in January 2020. The lovebirds’ relationship got serious when they both quarantined together in the heat of Covid-19.

In mid-May 2021, Gomez, 28, and the singer tied the knot in a wedding ceremony at the singer’s house in Montecito, California.

The couple lived together happily until they started having issues. It was reported that they separated as early as February this year. However, the information only got into the public domain in July when insider sources told TMZ that the couple had attempted to reconcile but made no headways.

In the court documents filed by Grande’s legal representative, Laura Wasser, the singer stated that she’s divorcing her husband of two years over “irreconcilable differences”. Other details about the contents of the two divorce documents, remain scarce.

But sources indicated that the lovebirds had a prenuptial agreement in place before heading to court. It is also believed that Grande will cut Gomez a check.

It is reported that the “Side to Side” hitmaker is currently dating singer and actor, Ethan Slater. They began dating after she separated from her husband months ago. Meanwhile, Slater has also filed for divorce from his wife, Lilly Jay, whom he welcomed a son with, last month.

The news of the duo’s divorce filings has sparked mix reactions from their respective fanbase. On both traditional and social media platforms, fans of the singer and his estranged husband have been reacting.

An X user (formerly Twitter), Danica Khumalo, believes the divorce could have been harder if the couple share a child or children.

“Am just happy she doesn’t have a kid with him. Things would have been harder,” Danica posted.

Another X user reacted to the news, saying he doesn’t care if the singer and her husband divorce or not. He continued by thanking the duo for their beautiful wedding photos which he says he had used in his art works.

“Whatever I don’t care about them anymore but they did have iconic beautiful wedding photos and I used them in a lot of my art…,” Luxebarbie posted.

In a comment he made under a Facebook post about the divorce, Karen Califano opined that Ariana “seems to have major issues in her life, regardless of her talent, fame & money.
